Find Your Own Road

“There’s a reason the Beatles will never be forgotten. Find your own road.”

The Inspiration. The Truth. The Only. The Beatles.

The Beatles own the title- the creators of music. Very few artists obtain that title, but The Beatles have gone above and beyond. With music inspiring enough to bring you to tears, songs of all genres, and the two greatest song writers in history, The Beatles have changed music forever.

Fact: Paul McCartney wrote "Hey Jude" for Julian Lennon, John's son, not when he was high and couldn't think of any words.

The the theatre went wild. John Lennon and Paul McCartney, the two greatest songwriters in history, started what became the greatest, most unique and individual classic rock band in the history of music. By bringing the main members together by school, the world was introduced to insane talent. John Lennon was a "screamer" in his early years which is surprisingly unknown to many people today, who still hear their songs on the radio.

Songs by The Beatles are known to everyone, though they may lack the knowledge of the artist.

Fact: Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray had cameos in Eric Idle's spoof feature film about the Beatles, "The Rutles."

The group's name had numerous inspirations. Stuart Sutcliffe noted that a motorcycle gang in the film, "The Wild One," was called 'The Beetles,' and John Lennon reportedly had a dream in which a man appeared "on a flaming pie," saying, "You will be Beatles with an 'a'." The band members were also influenced by the name of Buddy Holly's band, the Crickets.

The Beatles have a history like no other. They have countless number one hits that are often recognizable with the first few chords. In 1957, John Lennon, age 16, formed the Quarry Men, a band comprised of pals from his school, Quarry Bank Grammar. Misery, Come Together Help!, Here Comes The Sun, Hey Jude, Imagine, All You Need is Love, and MANY, MANY more are all songs that kids today have in their iTunes playlists. The Beatles will live on forever.

Fact: Though she bought him his first guitar, John's Aunt Mimi discouraged him from a career in music, saying, according to John: "The guitar's all right as a hobby, but it won't earn you any money." Years later, John gave her a silver plaque with that quote engraved upon it.

The Beatles OWNED the music industry with albums selling out like crazy. Who would have thought a couple school boys would change music forever.

  1. It's going to be a while before a rock band breaks out like the Beatles did.
