Mayer Movement

It's been 3 weeks since my last blog post and I apologize for my absence. I've been at God Camp having the experience of a lifetime. Making new friends, memories, and smores is really what summer's about. This week, to get back on schedule, I'll explain my title- Mayer Movement. It refers to the moving melodies produced by John Mayer....

John Mayer enrolled in the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, at age nineteen. He left school after two semesters and moved with Cook to Atlanta. In Atlanta they formed a two-man band called LoFi Masters and began performing in local coffee houses and club venues. Shortly after, Mayer started becoming popular in other genres than his own. Mayer started doing endorsements such as a Volkswagen commercial for the Beetle's guitar outlet and for the BlackBerry Curve.

John Mayer's albums have received praise from rap stars Jay-Z and Nelly. When asked about his presence in the hip hop community, Mayer said, "It's not music out there right now. That's why, to me, hip-hop is where rock used to be." Mayer's third studio album, titled Continuum, was released on September 12, 2006, and was produced by Mayer and Steve Jordan. Continuum includes the blues centerpiece "Gravity." Mayer has said that "Gravity" is the most important song he's ever written.

On December 7, 2006, Mayer was nominated for five 2007 Grammys, including "Album of the Year." The John Mayer Trio also received a nomination for their album, Try!. He won two: Best Pop Song with Vocal for "Waiting on the World to Change" and Best Pop Album for Continuum.

John Mayer's done pretty well in life with his love for music and moving melodies. We all have his hits on our iPods and computers because he's so amazing to listen to. He's one of the few artists where you can dream while you listen to their music.. those are the people meant to change lives in the world through music.

Defy gravity, make a memory, and live life with music...
